Buying a home in Huntingdonshire

As we have our new fully fledged enthusiastic Mortgage Broker in Huntingdon, we thought it would be apt to write a review on the areas she covers. We thought it would also be a good idea to included approximate costs for a 3 bedroom family home in the areas to help when looking at buying in and around Huntingdonshire.

St Neots

This is the largest market town in Huntingdonshire, there is the delightful riverside park with lovely walks, play parks, a skate-park, and cafe. There is also a new miniature railway featuring a small train ride which is one of many community projects in the area. St Neots has many primary schools and is served with 2 Secondary schools Ernulf academy and Longsands academy, as well as a numerous primary schools, there is a bustling market every Thursday, a community swimming pool, bowling alley and newly built cinema, plenty of restaurants and cafes as well. St Neots has great links via the fast train to London Kings Cross as well as being very close to Cambridge city and is also close by to the M1.

For a 3 Bedroom Semi detached in the area, house prices tend to start at around the £220,000 mark and go upwards. When looking on Rightmove we seen a 3 bedroom detached for in excess of a million so there are properties for all budgets in the area.

Little Paxton

Little Paxton is a village just a short walk from St Neots, with its own nature preserve called Little Paxton Pits, all the plus sides of a big town within a village, great community spirit with many events locally, there is a couple of shops, a pub and an outstanding primary school. It is also close the M1 for commuters.

A 3 bedroom semi detached in Little Paxton has a little more closed bracket in terms of prices than St Neots, on Rightmove they tend to start at around £250,000 up to around £330,000.

Godmanchester

This town is an idyllic scene with a mixture of pretty picturesque cottages and some newer houses, the church and of course the Chinese bridge, where photographers from all around enjoy taking wonderful pictures of. There are 3 great primary schools to choose from. There are lovely walks around the countryside and its a short walk over the old bridge to Huntingdon town centre. There is a great community spirit here with many events taking place especially the picnic in the park held in the summer at the riverside, an event not to be missed!

St Ives

This market town is a great place to bring up family especially if you work in Cambridge, its on the guided bus route, has plenty of countryside, lovely pubs, a full high street and a regular market on Mondays and Fridays. There is one secondary school and a handful of primary schools to choose from.

House prices in St Ives can vary a little more than the previous 2 places, there canbe over £100,000 difference. 3 Bedroom semi detached houses tend to start at around £240-250,000 up to around £380,000.

Huntingdon

The town of Huntingdon is ever changing, it has recently has a revamp which has brought many new shops to the centre, it is also on the fast route train to London kings cross and has easy access to the M1 North and South. There are 2 great Secondary schools, St Peters and Hinchingbrooke in addition to many Primary schools. The community swimming pool and cinema are just some of the things on offer here. Head over to Hinchingbrooke Park to get close to nature with amazing wooded parks, fishing and picnic areas. There is also Hinchingbrooke Hospital with an A&E and Maternity department serving the local people of Huntingdonshire.

House prices in Huntingdon can vary significantly so should be ideal for many types of budgets. With 3 Bedroom semi detached homes starting at around £200,000 up to £500,000 there is every chance you will find something to suit your budget.
